Recently I found myself in line at a local car rental company. With two toddlers clinging to me, a line of people standing impatiently behind me and the rental company employee waiting eagerly for me decide whether to add coverage for my rental vehicle, I didn’t really have time to pause and do a google search for “rental car insurance.”

Like myself and so many others, you may have found yourself in a similar situation. If not, chances are you will sometime in the future. It’s a question we hear a lot: Should I buy coverage offered by the rental company? The answer is not always a simple one. Typically we do recommend the rental company coverage option. For a more detailed breakdown, check out our article about it.

While it is sometimes difficult to determine what coverage is available between the rental company, your credit card or even your own personal auto policy, there may be an option that could make the decision a little easier: adding rented vehicle coverage to your auto policy. If you’re a frequent renter, this is probably the best option for you. For a low additional fee to your annual premium this coverage, available to some existing auto policies, provides protection on all rented vehicles. Adding the option is easy – simply contact us to see if it’s available on your policy. We’ll be happy to provide a quote. If nothing else, it could help you avoid stress of a hasty decision in the rental car line.
